Today’s Brew (Monday, October 13, 2025)

Today is a huge milestone for Lisa’s AI Café. I have been wanting to create a Daily Brew newsletter that keeps us up to date with new features and new ways of using AI Models such as my favs – Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT. This weekend was spent creating the systems to be able to bring this to you and given this is my first – I would love your feedback.
AI’s biggest game changer isn’t the flashy tech, but how it connects people, and this week proves it!
OpenAI just dropped their Apps SDK, essentially turning ChatGPT from a powerful chatbot into a full-blown mobile platform where developers can build and monetize apps. Think of it like the iPhone App Store moment, but for conversational AI. With user numbers soaring, this signals a massive shift: AI isn’t just your assistant anymore, it’s becoming your new operating system for everything from coding to creating a business poster.
Let’s dive in and see what’s brewing!
Quick Brew Summary
- 800 Million: The astonishing new weekly active user count for ChatGPT (OpenAI), an increase of 100 million in just one month.
- GPT-5 Pro (OpenAI): Released to developers with a massive 400,000-token context window for handling huge, complex professional tasks.
- Gemini Enterprise (Google): Google’s new platform, a rebrand of “Agentspace,” focusing on automating end-to-end business workflows.
- Sora App (OpenAI): The short-video generation app has hit 1 million downloads on iOS in less than five days, showing the incredible hunger for easy video creation.
Featured Update: OpenAI Becomes an App Store
The most impactful news is OpenAI’s new Apps SDK announced at DevDay 2025. This SDK lets developers build and get paid for applications that run directly inside the ChatGPT interface. Imagine using Canva to design a flyer or Coursera to watch a lesson, all without leaving your chat window.
Daily Analysis: This is the platform play we’ve been waiting for. By providing a monetization path and instant access to a growing base of 800 million weekly users,
OpenAI is inviting the world to build the next generation of software on their infrastructure.
This move solidifies ChatGPT’s evolution from a single tool into a dominant computing platform, creating both huge opportunities for builders and a major competitive challenge for other tech giants.
New Use Cases
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Developers can now build monetizable, integrated apps (think mini-programs) directly into the ChatGPT interface for the massive user base.
Gemini (Google)
Gemini Enterprise allows businesses to build custom AI agents that connect to their internal company data for workflow automation and data analysis.
Claude (Anthropic)
The new Claude Sonnet 4.5 model is excelling at autonomous tasks like multi-step planning and using external tools (APIs) with minimal human oversight.
Perplexity
Has made its powerful, AI-powered Comet AI Browser completely free, making advanced, real-time information synthesis accessible to all.
Trending Prompts
The Hindu festival Karwa Chauth is trending as users generate hyper-realistic, culturally relevant images with tools like Gemini Nano’s Banana AI. This shows a new trend of AI being used to capture and personalize cultural and festive moments.
Generate a close-up portrait of an Indian woman in a deep red lehenga, looking at the full moon through a decorated sieve (chhanni). Her face is gently lit by the soft moonlight and the glow of the small diya in the sieve. Intricate gold jewelry, subtle bokeh background, ultra-realistic 4K.
Act as a seasoned negotiation strategist. Outline the three most powerful opening lines for a salary negotiation and provide a detailed script for countering a low offer while maintaining a collaborative tone.
Critique this outline for a 5-minute educational video on the Roman Empire's decline. Identify any historical inaccuracies or logical gaps, and suggest a more compelling narrative hook for a Gen Z audience.
Business & Education Spotlight
The biggest theme this month is the shift from experimentation to integration in the enterprise. Google Cloud is showcasing real-world use cases, such as a Colombian logistics company using Vertex AI and Gemini to predict package returns, which resulted in an 80% improvement in real-time data access.
Education Highlight
A Texas school called Alpha School is making headlines for using AI-driven software for the bulk of its academic instruction during morning hours, shifting the teacher’s role to an in-classroom “guide” and charging high tuition. This model, which emphasizes individualized pacing and hands-on afternoon learning, sparks a huge ethical and social debate on the future of traditional teaching. AI is no longer just a tool for teachers; it’s a structural component of the classroom.
Creative Corner
The creative field is buzzing with breakthroughs in video and integrated models:
- OpenAI’s Sora App is exploding onto the scene, offering free, text-to-video generation on iOS. While its rapid adoption is exciting for creators, it’s already generating controversy over copyright and its impact on human actors.
- Google’s Veo 3 model, which can generate video with synchronized audio, has been integrated into Canva AI. This is a huge win for everyday creators who can now generate short, high-fidelity video clips and customize them directly within Canva’s design ecosystem.
- Microsoft Azure AI Foundry is rolling out a new compact, high-speed image model, GPT-image-1-mini, making lightning-fast, high-quality image generation more accessible for apps being built in the Azure ecosystem.
